Rd 10 Mitchell Harris Footy Tipping preview..Get on it!

Before we start, we need to let you know Mitchell Harris has sold out and gone into product placement in some of the nation's biggest television productions...Yes - it's true.. Check it out here!

Anyway, as Eric Clapton once sang "Leila..I've got you on my mind..." and Miss Leilajane took home the chocolates last week after picking 8 in a very tough round just pipping out Brad "Punter" Paton and Rohan "Bucks" Buckley. The leaderboard hasn't altered too much this week with Kingy, KC and Old Old Mitch still sitting pretty at the pointy end.

Well, tipsters, Rd 10 kicks off tomorrow night and its the hapless Dees facing up to the in form Blues. The Dees physios have been busier than Arnie's housekeeper this week with a bench full of injuries and will most certainly struggle against the Old Dark Navy Blues.

North Melbourne will be looking to bury the "Boobies on Facebook" scandal this week but meet up with a Swannies outfit on the rebound. Known for bouncing back after a loss the Bloods will be out for blood on Saturday afternoon.
The Dockers will be without Big Leaping Aaron Sandilands this week so will need to work a bit harder than the Melbourne wharfies are at the moment. Freo are looking to give the big heave-ho to St Kilda who only broke their losing streak last week.

The clash that all Cats fans have been waiting for finally comes around on Saturday night when the Cats head up to the Gold Coast Stadium to tackle the Suns lead by none other than G.Ablett Jnr. Will be great to see how they take on their once fearless leader. We wonder if anyone will have a crack young Gary. The Cats are too polished & too good to let that bother them too much I reckon. It'll be business as usual & they'll make pretty easy work of the Suns.
How good is it to hear ' ..we're the Tigers of old, we're strong & we're bold...' being sung more regularly these days! They've settled into their comfortable 9th spot on the ladder & head north to take on the Power at TIO. Not much love or hope for the Power I'm afraid they're gone. The Tiges will win this & probably do a bit of good talent scouting whilst they're up there as well! Win, Win for the Tiges.

On Sunday, the Brissy Lions fresh from a win over the sadly average Roos, take on the Radelaide Crows on their home turf at AAMI. The Crows haven't quite got it all together yet this year but I reckon they're still finals contenders for sure & need to bury the Lions this weekend. If they don't then it makes a mess of of their season with so many teams likely to be fighting it out for those last few spots in the top eight later on.

Well, the reigning premiers certainly know how to hit the gas when it's needed as the Crows found out in the final quarter last week. It'll be up to the reigning wooden spooners to take it up to the Pies and after wiping the Bulldogs off the turf last week they are in with a chance. They've got four big boys up on the forward line and with Kennedy bagging himself 10 through the big sticks last week, the Maggies defence will have some work to do.

To cap things off on Sunday, the Dogs & the Hawks go paw to talon at the Hanger. This should be an absolute beauty. The Dogs are desperate for a win & the Hawks have been doing it fairly easy for a few weeks & are looking the real deal again but this hit out might test them out a little bit.

Good luck to everyone and have a top weekend!

Mitchell Harris Shiraz features on Offspring!

Ok, so not exactly features, but it was cool to see a bottle of our shiraz sitting in the background of a scene of Channel Ten's Offspring last week.

The scene was set the very cool bar of our mates at St Judes Cellars in Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

For any of you who missed it, we think the script went a little something like this....

Pressing off the Mitchell Harris Mataro

Some quick phone-cam snaps of putting our juicy and silky Pyrenees Mataro through the little basket press today.

The 2011 Mataro is a beaut little parcel of Pyrenees fruit that is already tasting delicious, and will no doubt form the basis of a brand new Mitchell Harris release  next year or beyond.

Cheers Johnno!

Mitchell Harris Footy Tipping Round 8 Preview!

Well tipsters, the brass monkeys have been dropping their balls all over town this week but don't let that put you off a trip to Ballarat this weekend. What better way to spend a chilly Sunday afternoon than tasting some of the regions best food and wine at the Ballarat Provincial Pleasures on this Sunday. See chefs Adrian Richardson (La Luna) and Damien Jones (Lydiard Wine Bar) prepare some tiptop dishes, whilst Johnno will be running a couple of "Wine without the BS" masterclasses. Come and say g'day to us all at the MH stand and try the latest release Sangio or warm your cockles with a glass of our Rutherglen Muscat. See you there!
Check it out here.

Speaking of chilly balls, what a ball buster of a start to Round 8 as first plays second at the G on Friday night. Collingwood are coming off the bye and only a third of the teams coming off the bye have won. Bartel, Selwood et al will be charging through the centre and if anyone is going to stop this Magpie train, the Cats are it. Saturday afternoon sees the first of the "knockout" games, for the coaches that is... Dean Bailey leads the way, but Vossy, Neil Craig and Primus are hot on his heels. The Dees stepped it up a notch last week showing some improved form on the field but scoring a rap on the knuckles for some quality Twitter banter. They meet up with Roos and its a tough one to call.
The Suns head back to AAMI stadium again this week where they knocked off Port a few weeks ago. They're up against a desperate Crows outfit who should win, but who can predict what those tweens from the North can do.
Vossy and Hirdy shared a Brownlow 15 years ago but I think Hird will have the measure in this game on Saturday night. The meggsy Lions' coach must be pretty edgy to get his skipper back on the ground and notch up his first win for the year.
The Swannies are kicking the pill around very nicely at the moment and should account for Port easily enough at home in Sydney town on Saturday night.
In the early 90's it was Plugger V Dunstall, these days it's Roo V Buddy. The Hawks are flying along at the moment but it could very well be time for the Saints to step up and show some of their recent finals form.
How good is it to see the Tiges finally winning a couple of games?? They could score themselves another decent scalp on Sunday arvo when they clash with the Doggies. And finally, it's a Western Derby to wrap up the round as the Weagles take on the Wharfies on Sunday night.

Good luck tipsters and get on down to the Ballarat Mining Exchange on Sunday for a drink and taste of some top nosh!

Cheers, Lis, Mitch, Johnno & Shan

Mitchell Harris Footy Tipping Round 7 Preview!

Welcome to Round 7 of the Mitchell Harris Mates tipping comp!

Well, the funky sounds of "That's the way...uh huh uh huh...I like it" have been ringing out through Nth Fitzroy all week as KC and the Sunshine band took out the honours for Round 6. It's as tight as a nun's nasty at the top of the leader board with three of our tipsters sitting pretty on 39. But nepotism is alive and well at Mitchell Harris and Old Mitch is sitting proudly in the No.1 spot.

It all kicks off tomorrow night with a shocker Port outfit at home to the Hawks. Surely it's time for the Power to pull something out of the bag but with Big Buddy still firing up forward this may not be their week.
As we say here in Ballarat, no dogs in the lake. In the nation’s capital this weekend there will be no lake in the dogs as they take on the Swannies at Manuka Oval. This ought to be a ringa ding ding battle with both teams needing to step if they want to be in the hunt at the business end of the season.
It's a battle in the coaches' box on Saturday arvo as the Cats play host to the Roos coming off their first win for the season. Jimmy Bartel is flying through the centre for the unbeaten Cats and they are coming off a rest so it's going to be a tough ask for the grumpier Scott brother...

The Tigers are on a roll winning 2 games on the trot, possibly something they haven’t done for about 86 years, & we’d like to think they might get this one at the G over the Dockers. However, coming off the back of a bye after 3 straight wins, the Shockers probably have the edge on the hapless Tiges.

The first Queensland Derby kicks off on Saturday night and this should be quite a firey affair despite both teams being on the bottom of the ladder. Simon Black has been mouthing off all week about the ex-Lions players but Guy McKenna has come out fighting. If only the Suns weren't still cowering in the corner from their 93 pt walloping in one quarter last week

The Wooshas Weagles have won the last 4 against the Bombers, but this time around with the golden child Heardy at the helm & Bomber Thompson riding shotgun at the Etihad Hanger, the baby Bombers should take down the Eagles on Sunday arvo.
Dean Bailey has been scouring the jobs vacant columns this week and unless the Dees can nab the four points on Sunday, he could be out the door faster than the words "Pippa's arse" shot to the top of the Google search stats. They clash with Adelaide who are starting to find their groove thing for 2011.

The next night at terminal 2 at Etihad, St Kilda take on the Blue baggers in what should be a great battle. It’s hard to love the Saints this year, after an off season riddled with scandal that seems to have left them pretty exposed & pretty useless to be honest. Just when they seemed to have shaken ghosts & the culture of seasons past, the Saints seem rattled and unlikely to beat the Blues who are cruising along ok after good wins against the Crows & Swans in the last couple of weeks.

So, come on tipsters, who will take home the bottle this week?? Up for grabs is one of our latest release 2010 Pyrenees Sangiovese. Hot off the press and into your glass if you can score the most tips for the week. That's the way...uh huh uh huh...

Good Luck!!
