Need some hot tips for Rd 6? The MH Mates Footy Tipping Preview...
I think this hipster above now rides a fixxy & is working as a barista in a trendy Seddon cafe a short torpedo punt from his old stomping ground, the windy Western Oval out in the Footscray heartland. My how things have changed out west!
I'm sure last week's winner Dolls House still has a poster of Terry Wheeler up on her wall. Congratulations to Jan who just hip & shouldered the current competition leader David 'Killer' King out to take the MH goodies this week.
Paddy 'Mad dog' Moloney is leading the chase one point behind Killer, & then there is a big pack in the breakaway group including Rocket Riordan, The Wiz, & Australia's favorite wine blogger (www.ozwinereview.com) ,Andrew 'Maggot Guts' Graham in hot pursuit!
On to this week's games...
Western Bulldogs v Collingwood, Etihad Stadium, Friday 7.50pm
Despite the support of the PM the doggies may struggle against the Pies this week. Although both sides are yet to hit their straps the pies have too much depth and class for the dogs who are yet to really impress.
Essendon v Brisbane Lions, Etihad Stadium, Saturday 1.40pm
The Bombers will be grateful for the long break since their bruising ANZAC day clash with the pies before they front up to the Brisvegas Lions at the Etihad check in lounge on Saturday arvo. Whilst the Lions are on the improve, I think Hirdy's boys in Melbourne, in winter, will be too good.
Geelong v Melbourne Demons, Simonds Stadium, Saturday 1.45pm
Hopefully it won't be the blood-bath (on & off the field) that it was when the Dees last made the trip down the highway, but it's unlikely to be pretty for the Dees nonetheless. This will be a good training run for the Pivitonians who will be hoping to get all their systems sorted after a patchy start to season 2012.
Gold Coast Suns v Fremantle, Metricon Stadium, Saturday 4.40pm
This game is a reminder to all our MH mates that if you aren't already following us on Twitter you can do so by clicking here and joining in the conversation. If you haven't signed up to twitter then you may miss half the action between Gary Ablett & Ryan Crowley who had a good old electronic war of words last weekend. The Dockers are the likely favorites, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the stats to see who uses the most #hashtags, LOLs, LMAO, IMHO, and WTFs. .
St Kilda v Hawthorn, MCG, Saturday 7.40pm
Are the Hawks just not that good, or are the Swans in with a show this year? A little bit from column A & a little bit from column B if you ask me. The Saints will be a big test for the Hawks and this game could be an absolute beauty. The Saints are going along ok, and provided that they don't get too distracted by today's police news, then the Hawks season might be in disarray on Saturday evening.
Sydney Swans v Adelaide Crows, SCG, Saturday 7.40pm
There probably has never been this much interest in a Radalaide match at the SCG ever. The Crows have only lost one game and the Swannies are undefeated. This is a big game for both sides. The Horse has his charges in great form and will be very difficult to roll at home. Another great bit of Saturday night entertainment looms in Sin City.
Carlton v GWS Giants, Etihad Stadium, Sunday 1.10pm
After last weeks thrilling win over in the west against the Freo Rockers, the Blues will champing at the bit to inflict some damage to Giants & to boost their percentage even further. I'm afraid Sheeds is going to have to wait at least one more week for that elusive first 4 points. Will the Blues show GWS any mercy? Could be ugly..
Port Adelaide v Richmond, AAMI Stadium, Sunday 3.15pm
After this match one of the teams will be 1 & 5 and looking down the barrel of a bottom 4 finish. The other will have 2 wins and maybe something s little more to fight for? The Tiges have gone ok against good opposition and could take it up to Port. However I think the home game advantage may just tip in Port's way unfortunately, because when the Tiges are winning games or at least putting up a fight, it's good for footy!
West Coast v North Melbourne, Patersons Stadium, Sunday 4.40pm
My heart says Roos, but my head says 'stupid heart, the Eagles will smash ya'. The Kangas are in unfamiliar territory having taken the cats a couple of weeks back, and won't go down without a decent fight against the unbeaten Weagles who were really challenged by the Tigers last weekend. It'll be a massive upset, & thus against the odds, if the Eagles don't win it.
